My Roots

I grew up in a military family and possessed an enterprising spirit from an early age.

My first business was selling nightcrawlers to fisherman in the Smoky Mountains. Armed with a flashlight and a Folgers can, I learned about tenacity, creativity and the importance of staying focused on the solution. The world needed problem solvers and I wanted to be one. I received my B.S. in family and child development from Virginia Tech and later attended Regis University, earning my masters in project management.

My Experience

Along my journey, I’ve worked in health care, entertainment, construction and non-profit organizations.

I established the first-ever child care center for the Denver Athletic Club and was the first project manager to come in under-budget for the globally recognized Cherry Creek Arts Festival. I eventually spent 17 years with Children’s Hospital of Colorado as director of planning, design, construction and real estate, handling half a billion dollars of project execution, directing multiple teams from concept to on-time completion and overseeing the growth and expansion of 3.8 million square feet of healthcare construction.

My Enterprising

I am a frequent national conference speaker on construction and healthcare design, and previous board member for the Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers and Directors (CAHED).

Theater is a serious hobby and I annually contribute to local productions as a scriptwriter, stage manager or director. I am also a certified business and leadership coach coach and a founder of Construction with a Touch of Grace, a mentoring networking organization supporting women in the construction industry.

My Inspiration

I read around 30 books a year, sing in a local church choir and have an incredibly strong sense of family. I believe in the power of meditation and also embrace spirituality.

Home-grown celery, orchids and The Empire Strikes Back are a few of my favorite things. My cats, Echo, Karma and Serendipity, are my only children and my husband is my best friend. All photography on this website is mine 😉

I really believe that if I slow down and breathe, I can figure it all out. I believe you can too.
